TAP Portugal is the leading Portuguese airline, established in March 1945 and in operation now for 60 years. Its hub in Lisbon is a key gateway into and out of Europe and a crossroads to continents such as Africa, North and South America. TAP’s current network comprises 42 destinations in 25 countries in Europe and Africa, as well as North, Central and South America, where the company stands out as the leading European carrier in operation in Brazil.

TAP is currently operating 38 weekly frequencies to Brazil, with direct daily flights departing Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Recife, Salvador and Fortaleza and three weekly flights to Natal and is to increase its operation to 39 frequencies a week during next IATA Summer 2005 period.

A wider range of destinations beyond its own network is also available, served by code-share operations with a number of partner-airlines. Thus, TAP offers customers an extended and highly flexible choice while providing them with the most convenient scheduled flights and easy connectivity onto more distant points.

A modern fleet with the latest in comfort

TAP operates a modern fleet of 40 Airbus aircraft: 6 A-310’s and 4 A-340’s in operation on the long haul sector and 16 A-319’s; 3 A-321’s and 11 A-320’s on the medium range.

Pursuing a strategy focused on the continuous enhancement of the product delivered to customers, TAP has been improving its service quality and redesigned its route network.

As a result of the recent upgrade of TAP’s Top Executive Class service, customers can enjoy the very latest in comfort, with full-recline seats on board the A-340 and A-310 fleets, providing individual video screen (A-340) and individual DVD players (A-310) along with several entertainment channels, extra space and privacy, plugs for laptops and back and head rests with four positions.

Within that framework, TAP has also implemented a menu renovation programme, including the introduction of new menus served on Top Executive Class developed all the way with the collaboration of a Portuguese Chef.

The “taste of Portugal” concept has been the main driver of this thorough process, based upon the Portuguese genuine gastronomy with the utilization of national quality products and a selected list of Portuguese wines. As of May 2004, TAP introduced new light meals on board the Economy class on European (medium haul flights) as well.
